What to Expect

Step 1: Paperwork

We ask that you please bring in or transfer any medical records for your pet prior to your visit. This will ensure our doctors are well versed on your pet’s medical history before the exam. You can email the records to contact@westgateomaha.com or fax them to us (402) 769-0378.

Step 2: Prepare Your Pet

Many pets experience anxiety when visiting a veterinarian office. The unfamiliar environment can overwhelm your pet and may trigger behavioral changes.
Here are some helpful tips regarding how to make your pets visit to the Westgate Animal Clinic a success:

  1. Please inform us of any behavioral issues your pet may have in a communal setting (aggressiveness, etc.).
  2. If you plan to use a kennel for a cat or smaller dog, practice having them enter, exit, and be transported about within the kennel.
  3. Set the kennel out a few days prior to your visit and leave door open. Place a blanket and a few of your pet’s favorite toys inside. Your pet should associate the kennel with being a safe place.
  4. If you are not bringing your pet in by kennel, we ask that you please escort them in secured on a leash. Practice walking your pet on a leash and keeping them close to your side prior to your visit.
  5. Animals are intuitive creatures and often feed off of their owner’s emotions. If you remain calm in the clinic, chances are your pet will be calm…or at least calmer.
  6. Bring a couple of your pet’s favorite treats with you in your pocket and reward them periodically for displaying good, calm behavior.
